Injaz Oman’s student firm programme contest today

Muscat: With the young entrepreneur of the year event approaching fast, Injaz Oman has announced its Student Company Programme competition will start today and conclude tomorrow.
The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan.
The fifth annual event will see 45 companies comprising student entrepreneurs battling it out for a variety of national awards, as well as a chance to represent Oman in the regional finals to be hosted by Injaz Al Arab in 2017. Young academics will take part in a series of marketing and sales programmes at a trade fair before they will be interviewed by a panel of esteemed judges.
The panel will assess various participants, their concepts and products, as per the contest’s gruelling assessment criteria.
Khaula Al Harthy, Executive Director of Injaz Oman, explained, “It’s not sufficient to run a financially successful company, or to create an exciting product or service. Our entrepreneurs must demonstrate that they understand how and why the company performed in the manner it did, and must showcase an admirable team spirit, individual and collective growth, among other skills.”
The company programme and competition’s main sponsor, Nama Group, in addition to BP Oman and the National Youth Commission, will present the nationally recognized awards to honour students’ achievements.
The accolades will span ‘In-country Value’, the ‘Best Advertisement’, the ‘Best Utilisation of Omani Material’, the ‘Best Sustainable Product’, the ‘Best Marketing Plan’, and the ‘Best Student Company’ overall, with the latter prize winner representing Oman in the regional final in 2017.
