Omani honey one of the best in the world

Muscat: It's official. Honey from Oman is one among the best in the world, having bagged the silver medal at the World Beekeping Awards at the 46th Apimondia, the International Apicultural Congress in Montreal.

The event hosts the largest international beekeeping gathering which brings together more than 6,000 participants from 80 countries and will continue till 12 September, 2019.

The World Bee Awards, held every two years at the Apimondia Conference, aims to highlight international excellence for honey, bee products, bee inventions and materials related to beekeeping, focusing on good beekeeping practices and quality.

Omani honey had been awarded third place at the Apimondia Conference in 2017.

Commenting on the award, Mohammed Al Shanfari from the National Company of Natural Honey said, "The competition this year has been very strong compared to previous years, and all honey samples provided by contestants from all over the world were subjected to physical and chemical examination."

"Omani honey will always be at the forefront because the Sultanate is characterized by appropriate environment for beekeeping and the production of the finest honey," Al Shanfari added. "I am very proud to raise the Sultanate 's flag high and I will be an ambassador of Omani honey in all international forums and I want to congratulate all beekeepers of the Sultanate for this achievement."
