Muscat: The Sultanate achieved 3rd place in the Arab world and 58th place globally in the 2019 Global Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, the National Competitiveness Office announced.
With this assessment, Oman has moved up 8 places from the previous ranking.
The Global Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report is a biennial report of the World Economic Forum that measures factors and policies that enable the development of sustainability in the travel and tourism sector.

The report covers 140 countries, 14 themes and includes 90 indicators, mainly policy and enabling conditions for tourism and travel, infrastructure, natural and cultural resources.
Among the most advanced ranks achieved by the Sultanate in the report are third place in the world for security and safety, 19th rank globally for business environment, a jump by 13 places in the development of ports infrastructure and progress of 8 places in air transport infrastructure.
