Muscat: A workshop on transformational leadership, organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), aimed at raising levels of awareness on organisational goals enjoyed by leaders, advancing productivity of leaders and employees, and developing the vision and translate it into actions.
Organised as part of Oman Manufacturing Group (OMG) series of events, the seminar, which took place on Wednesday, at Crowne Plaza Muscat, also aimed rising above own self-interest for the advantage of the organisation.
Moderated by Duha Awayes, associate director at Protiviti Oman, the workshop underscored leadership theories and their development throughout the years; transformational leadership and how it is different; steps a leader needs to take to develop a transformational leadership environment; and the dark side of leadership and ways to avoid it.
“Transformational leadership is about collaboration and appealing to the human side of the individuals in order to motivate them to perform beyond their normal standards, by aligning their effort under one vision and one goal,” Awayes said.
“Organisations that wish to adopt this effective form of leadership need to concentrate on team building and engagement, by providing a collaborative work place where ideas are shared, and employees’ skills are identified and developed according to their personal growth goals as well as the organisation’s goals and vision. Coaching, mentoring and planned capacity building plays a key role,” she added.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop was held as part of Oman Manufacturing Group (OMG) series of events, which aim at underlining various areas related to businessmen, employees and students of higher education institutions in the Sultanate.
Oman Manufacturing Group events have been initiated to bring together local manufacturers and various industries to network and discuss on the recent trends triggered in the industry and promote the development of the manufacturing sector in Oman.
