Supreme Council reviews economic diversification in Oman

Muscat: Actions taken as part of the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification, or Tanfeedh, were reviewed at a meeting of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) yesterday.
The SCP held, yesterday, its third meeting for the year under the chairmanship of Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and SCP vice-chairman.
The meeting reviewed the report on the financial and economic conditions and the financial policies and procedures the Sultanate has adopted to limit the impact of the dip in oil prices.
It also reviewed the ninth five-year development plan as well as the findings of the study on the agriculture and fisheries sector (2020-2040) conducted in cooperation with the experts of World Bank. The study is aimed at setting up a long-term vision for investment in the Sultanate’s agriculture and fisheries sector.
