Muscat: An exciting new season is about kick-off at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) this September.
The new season will include nine operas, six shows, five orchestras, as well as a number of ballets and special programs for children. It will also host some well-known superstars such as: José Cura, Chick Corea, Marcel Khalif, and Ahlam.
According to a statement released by the ROHM, Mozart’s 'The Magic Flute' is one of the operas that is going to be performed in the coming new season and it is going to be an original production by the ROHM in Oman.
Moreover, Beethoven's epic Ninth symphony will be performed under the guidance of José Cura whereas Tchaikovsky’s symphony no. 6 called Pathétique will be performed under the baton of Myung-whun Chung.
A number of superstars will be performing in the upcoming season. "ROHM’s 2019-2020 galaxy of superstars comes from opera, jazz, and the Arab concert stage." ROHM said.
Some of the superstars will be: operatic tenor José Cura, jazz pianist Chick Corea, operatic baritone Leo Nucci, Lebanese composer Marcel Khalife, Emirati singer Ahlam, and 'Sun of Lebanese Song' Najwa Karam.
Mughal-E-Azam, the Indian smash-hit musical, is going to be one of the hottest shows in ROHM’s new season.
The taiko drumming troupe Kodō will also perform a show in the upcoming season.
Describing Kodō, the Japanese musical group, ROHM said: "On portable drums they display rapid-fire skill and move with rhythmic perfection."
Regarding the ballets shows, "ROHM’s new season truly represents ballet as the divinely beautiful, eloquent and incredibly inspiring art," ROHM said in a statement.
The ballets called Onegin and The Nutcracker will be showcased in ROHM’s new season.
In addition to this, the Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet and Cairo Opera Ballet Company will also perform in the new season.
The upcoming season will also include a special musical program for children called 'Tout Neuf' themed on on Imagination and Science.
