Muscat: The first day of the Hijri new year, which will fall next week, will be a holiday.
The official holiday has been announced and will fall on the start of the Islamic new year, Muharram 1, 1441 and will be confirmed by lunar observation by the authorities at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, but is likely to be on either Sunday, September 1 or Monday, September 2, 2019.
The day will be a public holiday for government employees at ministries, public authorities, and other agencies as well as companies in the private sector as per the labour law.
