Muscat: Bargain hunters descended on one of Oman’s best-known hotels after owners announced the entire contents of bedrooms were on sale for as little as OMR200.

The auction, at the Golden Tulip, scheduled to run between August 18 and 28, was over in just two days.

The hotel was officially closed at the end of July when Oman Aviation Services announced that the land was to be used in projects which would enhance the hospitality industry in the Sultanate.

Chief Executive Officer of Oman Aviation Services, Dr Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili said: “Oman Aviation Services is working hard to upgrade its various services, anticipating future developments in accordance with the latest updates in international hospitality. The ongoing development of the sector has led to a wide range of investment opportunities.”

“After 35 years of continuous success in the industry, we maintain our strong commitment to actively support the growth of the hospitality sector in Oman,” Al Shuaili said.

Dr. Khalfan also pointed out that standards of modernisation and development had been studied extensively and carefully.

Golden Tulip Al Seeb, formerly known as Novotel Al Seeb Muscat, was founded in 1984 by the International Hospitality Group “Accor Hotels” and is considered one of the oldest hotels in the capital city of Muscat.

Ownership transferred

In 2004, the Golden Tulip Hospitality Group began managing and operating the Hotel, and it was renamed the “Golden Tulip Hotel” under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and

Industry.

In 2009, ownership of the hotel was transferred to Oman Air, where the Hotel gained a prominent place in the market due to its exceptional Hospitality Standards.

Oman Aviation Hospitality

In February 2018, Oman Aviation Hospitality – a subsidiary of Oman Aviation Services – took over the responsibility of managing the hotel.

The company is working to implement the strategic plans of Oman Aviation Services to expand the provision of high-quality hospitality services and to offer innovative features and technologies in the hospitality sector.
