Muscat: Oman Air crew have been told to disable inflight maps as some of them are wrong.
“Inaccurate translations of flight maps showing “Persian Gulf instead of Arabian Gulf” will be changed,” Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate, said.
“The flight maps on our new B737 and Dreamliners have translation errors. Thales is making use of a new provider with more detailed flight maps, however, inaccurate translations have been identified,” Oman Air said in a notice uploaded on its official twitter handle.
“We have pushed Panasonic to get the map software changed without delay. They are testing as we speak and we hope to have correction done by Sunday or Monday and loaded on to our aircraft,” the airline added. Inaccurate translations have created a buzz on social media networks by some of the passengers.
Many had shared the visuals of inaccurate translations on twitter.
