Invest Oman attracts OMR3.09bn in localised projects

Muscat: Oman’s investment promotion platform, Invest Oman, has attracted 96 investment projects worth approximately OMR5.79 billion between March 2023 and August 2026, of which 46 projects valued at OMR3.09 billion have been localised, reflecting the Sultanate’s growing appeal as an investment destination.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said Invest  Oman has evolved from a promotional platform into an integrated system for attracting and implementing strategic investments, supporting economic diversification and the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Of the 96 projects submitted or expressed interest in by investors, 56 remain active, with a combined investment value of approximately OMR5.05 billion. The 46 localised projects span several sectors, including 15 in industry, 13 in food security, four each in health and logistics, two each in education, renewable energy, and oil and gas, and one each in tourism, mining, information technology and aviation.

Ibtisam bint Ahmed Al-Farouji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion, said the results reflected Oman’s transition towards a more mature investment promotion system focused on investment quality, economic impact and long-term partnerships.

She told Oman News Agency that Invest in Oman has prioritised improving the business environment, simplifying procedures, reducing administrative complexities and enhancing transparency. These efforts are supported by an integrated digital system featuring a multilingual website, online procedural tracking and aftercare services to ensure project sustainability.

Between 2024 and 2026, the ministry targeted around 350 companies and conducted more than 15 investment missions. These efforts resulted in 16 projects being transferred to the operations and negotiation team, representing investments of approximately OMR2.9 billion across seven sectors.

The total investment value of projects localised by the national negotiating team reached approximately OMR2.7 billion.

In 2023, the team localised the United Solar Polysilicon project, valued at OMR520 million. In 2024, projects worth OMR286 million were localised, including Green Iron Alloys Company’s OMR69 million project and Orion Solar’s OMR217 million project.

In 2025, the value of localised projects reached approximately OMR1.5 billion. These included Vulcan Green Steel’s green steel project worth OMR896 million, Shenzom’s anode production project valued at OMR368 million, the GFCL project worth OMR189 million and Sahara Solar Energy Company’s project valued at OMR78 million.

Al-Farouji said Invest in Oman had brought government and private-sector entities together under a unified national framework, providing investors with a single point of contact throughout the investment process, from initial enquiries and evaluation to negotiations, implementation and expansion.

Nasser bin Khalifa Al Kindi, CEO of Invest in Oman, said the results demonstrated the effectiveness of coordination between the platform, government entities and strategic partners in attracting quality investments and responding to investors’ requirements.

He revealed that projects localised during 2026 amounted to OMR503 million across 11 projects. These included the C Anode project for manufacturing silicon-carbon anode materials, valued at OMR171 million, and the Janan Middle East Mining project, worth OMR154 million.

Al Kindi added that investment promotion efforts were focused on sectors supporting economic diversification, particularly industry, food security, logistics, healthcare and energy.

These sectors are expected to strengthen local content, develop supply chains, encourage innovation, facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies and increase economic value addition, thereby enhancing Oman’s competitiveness and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Invest in Oman serves as the national gateway for presenting investment opportunities, connecting investors with relevant authorities and facilitating procedures, in line with the country’s broader efforts to attract strategic investments and establish itself as a regional business and investment hub.
