278 labour law violators arrested in Oman

Muscat: Over 200 labour law violators were arrested last week, according to the weekly index issued by the Ministry of Manpower.
“278 labour law violators were arrested during the period between September 4 and 10. Among them, there were 213 commercial workers, 28 agricultural and 37 domestic workers,” the statement from the ministry added.
Out of the arrested, 211 turned out to be absconding workers.
Muscat governorate recorded the highest number of violators with 85 followed by North Al Batinah with 46 arrested labourers.
Meanwhile, 165 workers were deported last week, the ministry reported.
