Number of visitors to Dhofar Governorate crosses 1.1 million

Muscat: The number of visitors to Dhofar Governorate during the period from June 21 to August 31, 2026, reached 1,116,051, marking an 8.6 percent increase compared with 1,027,255 visitors recorded during the same period in 2025.

Preliminary estimates of visitors to Dhofar during Khareef 2026, issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), showed that Omanis accounted for the largest share of visitors, with 816,719, or 73.2 percent of the total.

Visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries numbered 183,861, while visitors of other nationalities totalled 115,471.

The data showed that 284,667 visitors arrived in Dhofar by air through the end of August, while 831,384 entered the governorate through land ports.

Land arrivals increased by 7.6 percent compared with the corresponding period in 2025, reflecting the continued importance of road travel to Dhofar during the Khareef season.

August alone recorded 643,602 visitors to Dhofar, accounting for 57.7 percent of the total visitors recorded between June 21 and August 31.

The figures underline the strong momentum of Dhofar’s tourism season and the governorate’s growing appeal as a seasonal destination, supported by its distinctive climate, natural landscapes and tourism attractions during the Khareef period.
