Deadline for construction companies in Oman to comply with new laws extended

Muscat: The deadline for construction companies to meet new legal criteria in the industry has been extended by the ministry.

A ministerial decision extending the to no later than 31, December 2016 was issued by Dr. Ali bin Masud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry. The decision took into consideration the conditions of these companies.

The Construction Companies Regulation aims at regularizing the construction sector, creating an attractive environment for national manpower, generating job opportunities for Omanis in this sector , limiting illicit trade and enhancing the technical and administrative skills of some construction companies.

It also aims at encouraging SMEs to manage these projects and control multiple commercial registrations by introducing a number of procedures that encourage the merger of these commercial registrations in coordination with the Ministry of Manpower.
