Sofia: Bulgarian authorities arrested one suspect and shut down more than 40 websites for illegal sharing of movies, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to data collected, the suspect, a 44-year-old man from Sofia, created and administered the websites, through which he distributed the movies without having the copyrights, the statement said.

Initially, the man posted the movies on some of the websites he controlled, the statement said. After reaching a certain number of visitors and generating traffic "for which he received payment from Google," he uploaded the same movies and shared them on other of his domains, and received money again.

Most of the websites were hosted by one of the largest international cloud service providers in the US. For this reason, the suspect thought he was anonymous, the statement read.
