
Muscat: The Digital Payments Seminar in the Sultanate of Oman emphasised the necessity of enhancing the efficiency and speed of transactions, mandating commercial activities to provide electronic payment services to consumers, and calling for the strengthening of awareness campaigns among community members regarding the safe use of electronic payments while clarifying the advantages of completing digital payment transactions.
The seminar, organised by Bank Muscat in cooperation with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Consumer Protection Authority, and Oman Banks Association, comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at promoting digital transformation, supporting financial innovation, and consolidating an integrated digital payments ecosystem that aligns with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion presented a working paper addressing the legal framework regulating electronic payments and the importance of developing an integrated legislative environment that supports innovation while simultaneously safeguarding the rights of various parties.
