Wakan is a small village which is located in the Western Hajar Mountains and 2,000 metres above sea level with stunning gardens overlooking the surrounding mountains above and the Wadi Mistal underneath. Wakan village is officially part of Nakhal Wilayat in the South Al Batinah Governorate, even though it is located in the border of Al Dhakhiliyah Governorate of Al Hajar mountain range. Residents of Wakan rely on farming and agriculture for their livelihood and the first thing we notice when we reach the beautiful village is the terraced gardens.
