Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is taking part in Doha International Book Fair 2026, the 35th edition of the book exhibition being held in the State of Qatar from 14 to 23 May 2026. The fair sees the participation of representatives of 36 countries and it exhibits the publications of more than 500 Arab and international publishing houses.
The participation of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion comprises publications from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the National Records and Archives Authority, among other national entities.
The Ministry’s participation in the book fair stems from a keenness to promote cooperation and integration of efforts among institutions supporting Oman’s cultural and tourism presence in international forums, said Naseem bint Abdullah Al Balushi, Supervisor of the Book Fairs Section at the Department of the “Journal of Oman Studies”, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
Naseem explained that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is showcasing more than 50 prominent titles featuring the Omani heritage over the past five years. These publications include research studies and books published by the Ministry in cultural, natural, archaeological and geological heritage, she added.
She noted that these recent publications include the 26th edition of the “Journal of Oman Studies” that celebrates its golden jubilee—marking 50 years since the publication issued its first edition way back in 1975.
The Ministry’s exhibits also include Issue No. 2 of a bulletin on relics titled “Athar Bulletin”, which publishes reports about surveys and excavations carried out by archaeological missions in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Ministry is also exhibiting Book No. 15 of the Omani Archaeological Heritage Series, which elaborates on remains of trilithic stones in the ancient Bedouin regions of south-eastern Arabia.
Naseem affirmed that Oman’s pavilions at various international book fairs serve as centres of attraction that draw visitors from different age groups. Through such events, the Ministry highlights Oman’s heritage and cultural assets, landmarks, tourist styles and experiences, in addition to tourist films, brochures, maps and promotional materials, said Naseem.
She pointed out that these publications provide information about Oman’s most prominent destinations, events and tourist seasons, including the autumn season in the Dhofar Governorate.
