Oman ranked 60th on global Corruption Perception Index

Berlin: Oman was ranked 60th on the world level, according to the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for the year 2015. It is a report published annually by the Transparency International, a non-profit organisation established in 1993 and based in Berlin.
In assessing the Sultanate’ ranking in the index, Transparency International ranking relied on the data and reports of Bertelsmann Foundation, Economist Intelligence Unit, Global Insight, Political Risk Services, World Economic Forum.
Four-place gain
During the past year, the Sultanate ranking improved by four rankings to 60th in 2015 compared to 64th in 2014.
The State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution (SFAAI) follows up the corruption perception indicator and join hands with other state institutions to improve, develop performance and improve the Sultanate’s ranking in the international indices.
Transparency International, a leader in combatting corruption in the world with branches in more than 100 countries, promotes awareness of the manifestations of political and administrative corruption.
The CPI cast light on the misuse of power, the confidential transaction and bribery, practices that affect the welfare of communities all over the world.
Two-thirds corrupt
At the CPI for the year 2015, more than two third of the countries under review scored less than 50 on the scale from 0 to 100 which means that these countries have high corruption perception and that they need to take necessary measures to address such high CPI.
