MUSCAT: Seeb Club have once again underlined their dominance in Omani football, clinching the Oman Professional League title for a third consecutive season after nearest challengers Al Shabab Club were beaten 1-0 by Sur SC on Friday—handing Seeb an unassailable 10-point lead with three rounds still remaining.
Defending champions wrapped up a dominant season that saw them taste just one defeat setting up historic AFC Champions League Two qualification.
Seeb, who sit top with 60 points, have now completed a remarkable title defence with three games to spare, as Shabab remain on 50 points with a maximum of nine still available.
The result confirmed Seeb’s fifth Oman Professional League (also known as Jindal League) crown overall, adding to previous triumphs in 2019–20, 2021–22, 2023–24 and 2024–25, bringing them level with Al Nasr in total league titles, behind only Dhofar (12) and Fanja (9).
The latest success has been built on extraordinary consistency under Serbian head coach Nikola Djurović, appointed on August 30, 2025.
In 23 matches played so far this season, Seeb have lost just once, won 19 and drawn three, establishing themselves as the league’s benchmark for efficiency and control.
Their only defeat came on February 7, 2026, when they suffered a shock 1-0 loss to now relegation-threatened Ibri Club. However, they responded in style and effectively sealed the title with a key 2-1 victory over 12-time champions Dhofar Club on May 2, moving to 60 points and placing firm pressure on their rivals.
Seeb’s dominance has also been defined by their record away from home, winning 10 of 11 matches on the road, alongside nine home victories and three draws at their fortress stadium. Across the campaign, they have combined attacking efficiency with defensive discipline, rarely allowing opponents a sustained challenge over the full season.
Despite the numbers, the campaign has not been without adversity. Injuries to key forwards Abdulaziz Al Miqbali, Marwan Mubarak, Arshad Al Alawi and Salah Al Yahyaei tested the depth of the yellow and green brigade, but Seeb’s structure and resilience ensured they remained unshaken at the top.
Club vice-chairman Yousuf Al Wahaibi described the triumph as both demanding and historic.
Speaking exclusively to Times of Oman, he said: “It was a challenging season. Fifth title and three in a row is a proud moment—difficult season as we had a lot of injuries to our strikers like Abdulaziz, Marwan, Arshad and Salah Al Yahyaei. We missed them. It is historic to qualify for AFC Champions League Two. We need money to prepare well but we are happy to have retained the title under Serbian coach Nikola.”
The title also carries continental significance, with Seeb set to become the first Omani club to compete directly in the AFC Champions League Two under the Asian Football Confederation’s new structure.
The club, which has a large and strong fan base, is expected to draw large number of fans in the remaining three rounds as they celebrate the latest title triumph.
From one defeat in 23 matches to a third straight league crown, Seeb’s latest triumph is more than just another title—it is a statement of sustained supremacy in Omani football and the beginning of a new chapter on the Asian stage.
Meanwhile, the race for the second spot intensified after Al Shabab's latest defeat, as Al Nasr are third, trailing by just four points at 46 points. Former champions Al Nahda are in fourth with 44 points, making the race for the runner-up spot tight with three rounds to play.
Sohar and Oman clubs are tied at 36 points each while Sur are at eighth with 25. Samail (22), Saham (22), record title-holders Dhofar (21) and Al Khabourah (21) are in the bottom half with Ibri at 20 and Al Rustaq, who have been relegated at 11.
