Al Buraimi: The Municipal Council of Al Buraimi Governorate held its third meeting of 2026 today, chaired by Sayyid Dr. Hamad Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Municipal Council.
The session addressed the repercussions of the weather condition associated with the "Al Masarrat" depression and its effects on the governorate's three wilayats, in addition to several service and development topics listed on the agenda.
The meeting discussed the implications of the weather experienced by the governorate's wilayats, reviewing the most significant impacts and the accompanying field challenges that required concerted official and community efforts. It also examined the efforts of the sub-committee for emergency cases and the measures taken to manage the situation.
Al Busaidi lauded the rapid response of the competent authorities and their intensive efforts in handling emergencies and mitigating damage, noting the field visits conducted by several officials to assess the extent of the impact and emphasizing the importance of enhancing readiness and improving response efficiency.
Furthermore, the Council approved the minutes of its second meeting for 2026 before discussing other items on the agenda, primarily committee reports. This included reviewing the minutes of the Governorate Development and Growth Committee and the initiatives supporting the governorate's development path. In health and environmental aspects, the Council examined the outcomes of the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee meeting and the minutes of the third Social Affairs Committee meeting for 2026 to review the most prominent recommendations and initiatives related to their respective mandates.
The Council also discussed several responses from government entities regarding service projects in the governorate's wilayats. These projects included the construction of a roundabout in the Al Owaida area in the Wilayat of Al Sunaina, the completion of road paving in the Al Ghuraifa area, and a road link for a sub-connection in the Al Khadhra area in Al Buraimi.
