Mwasalat suspends bus services on some city, intercity routes

Muscat: Rain clouds gathered over Muscat as the city adjusted to shifting weather conditions. With safety at the forefront, Mwasalat made a careful decision—temporarily halting several bus routes to protect passengers from potential risks on the roads.

In neighbourhoods stretching from Al Khoud to Al Mabelah, the usual rhythm of city buses slowed. Routes connecting daily life—passing through Sultan Qaboos University and busy hubs like Burj Al Sahwa—paused as a precaution, leaving quieter streets in their wake.

City services affected included Route 6 (Al Khoud–Sultan Qaboos University–Al Khoud), Route 7 (Al Mabelah–Al Khoud–Burj Al Sahwa), Route 9 (Al Athaiba–Al Ansab–Misfah Industrial Area), and Route 10 (Al Mabelah–Seeb Souq–Burj Al Sahwa).

Beyond the capital, the disruption extended further. Journeys linking Muscat to towns such as Duqm, Ibri, Buraimi, and Haima were also suspended, as authorities continued to monitor the evolving situation. Intercity services affected on Thursday, March 26, 2026, included Route 52 (Muscat–Duqm), Route 53 (Muscat–Ibri–Buraimi), and Route 103 (Muscat–Haima–Duqm).

Still, not everything came to a standstill. Across the waters, ferries maintained steady trips between Shannah and Masirah Island, offering a sense of continuity amid the uncertainty.

For now, the city waits—watchful and prepared—knowing that each decision is guided by one priority above all: keeping people safe until clearer skies return.
