Oman offers attractive investment opportunities for Indian businessmen

Muscat: Oman offers attractive investment opportunities for Indian businessmen, thanks to the country’s well-developed infrastructure facilities and attractive policies of the government, said Indian ambassador to the Sultanate, while addressing an investment roadshow conducted by a business delegation from India.
Indramani Pandey, while addressing the delegation from the Indian state of Gujarat, said that Oman offers excellent free zones, which are linked to three ports – Salalah, Sohar and Duqm. “The infrastructure facilities are excellent (in Oman) and Indian investment is welcomed with an open arm in the Sultanate,” the ambassador added.
Pandey also noted that Indian firms can use Oman as a manufacturing hub for exporting to other Gulf and Middle East countries, thanks to the strategic location of the Sultanate.
The ambassador said that the important pillars of the relation between the two countries are trade and investment. “We are committed to expand it further.”
Pandey also said that Omani investors can also look at opportunities in India as the country is undergoing a big transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The country has opened up new vistas, new opportunities for the business community. Easiness in doing business in India has improved in the last few years. It is an opportunity for Omani businessmen to expand their trade with India.”
Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry has conducted the meeting with a business delegation from the Indian state of Gujarat, which is organising the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’ between January 10 and 13, 2017. Top-level officials from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including its chairman Said bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, attended the meeting.
The vibrant Gujarat delegation has representative from over 20 Indian firms and representatives from the government of Gujarat and trade bodies of India. The delegation is in Muscat to promote the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit and to seek investments into India.The delegation is also exploring trade and investment opportunities in Oman, including collaboration and tie-ups.
