Duqm fishing port to open in 2020

Muscat: Fishing in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm is set to grow when the new Duqm fishing port opens in 2020.

An official from the port told Times of Oman that the port will open in 2020, "but likely not at the start of the year."

He added, "As it stands, the borders of the port will be extended by one kilometre, after which piers will be constructed for traditional fishing vessels to be moored."

An official from the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm said, "The project cost OMR60 million and that construction on it began in 2016."
