Oman Air announces direct Muscat-Tashkent flights

Muscat: Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, starting in June 2026, further strengthening its international network.

The new service will operate twice weekly, providing passengers with convenient access between the two capitals and enhancing air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and Central Asia. This will be the eighth destination announced by the airline since last December.

Tashkent, one of Uzbekistan’s largest cities, is a rising tourist destination renowned for its unique culture, rich historical landmarks, and vibrant parks. These flights are expected to boost inbound tourism to the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to strengthening bilateral trade and cultural ties between the two countries. Given their historical location on the Silk Road, Oman and Uzbekistan share a rich cultural heritage and deep historical ties, offering travelers the opportunity to explore two culturally distinct yet historically interconnected destinations.

Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis explained that the launch of the Tashkent route reflects Oman Air’s ongoing focus on building a commercially sustainable network that balances direct demand with strategically growing markets.

Central Asia is a region of increasing importance for both leisure and business travel, and this new service is designed to support Oman’s ambitious tourism plans by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the surrounding region.

He noted that this route will provide Oman Air passengers with seamless access to one of Central Asia’s most attractive destinations, and the flights, which take just four hours, will offer a convenient option for both leisure and business travelers.
