Oman’s Fatma Al Nabhani bows out of China tournament

Muscat: Fatma Al Nabhani bowed out of the $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Guiyang, China on Thursday when Oman’s ace tennis player and her Russian partner Anastasia Gasanova were beaten in the quarterfinals of the doubles competition.
In the last-eight match, Fatma and Anastasia were beaten by Chinese pair of Hanyu Guo and Yukun Zhang in staight sets 6-3, 6-3.
In Guiyang, Fatma also took part in the singles competition but the sixth seeded Omani girl’s failed to clear the first hurdle losing her first round match to China’s Xinyu Gao 6-2, 6-4.
The Omani girl has recently won the second place in a $10,000 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Spain, where she also reached the semifinals of the doubles competition in the company of Belgium’s Helene Scholsen.
