Muscat: The State Council’s General Secretariat in coordination with the Information Technology Management of the Operation and Maintenance of facilities of the Council of Oman has introduced the application of the smart fingerprint system to establish attendance tracking for the Council's employees by using smartphone devices.
The unique system allows the employees to complete the fingerprinting process using their smartphones, which starts functioning automatically as soon as the employee enters or exits the Council building, using the wireless and data network.
The application of this system is to avoid the defects of the traditional fingerprint system in force, which include human and technical errors.
The new system requires activating of the Bluetooth with users' fingerprint device; connect to the Council's network to approve the validity of a location.
Khalid bin Juma Al-Hashimi, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the Council, explained that the application of the fingerprint system will systematically prove the presence and exit of the council's employees through smartphone devices.
This initiative comes within the framework of the digital transformations taking place in the Council. It confirms the ongoing interest of the Secretariat to improve the working environment and facilitate the enhancement of staff performance.
He underscored the Secretariat's keenness to develop the Council’s human resources and work on the evaluation policy according to specific measurement indicators, to reflect positively on the output of the Council.
