
Muscat: The Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee has approved the rosters of the national teams participating in the Asian Beach Games to be held in Sanya, the People's Republic of China, in 2026.
The Sultanate of Oman will participate in six sports: beach soccer, beach handball, beach athletics, modern pentathlon, beach volleyball (Team A), and aquatic sports.
This approval came during the board’s first meeting of the year, held on Monday under the chairmanship of Azzan Qais Al Said, Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman emphasised the importance of the upcoming period and the sporting and organizational commitments scheduled for this year, calling for continued teamwork to achieve the committee's established goals.
Regarding institutional organisation, the board members reviewed the Unified Statutes for Gulf Sports Federations, examining key regulatory clauses aimed at unifying institutional efforts among sports federations across the GCC countries. The board also reviewed the minutes of the 23rd General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, held on 8 November 2025, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, as well as the resulting recommendations and decisions related to the Arab Olympic movement.
The meeting further discussed the administrative status of board members from sports federations accompanying national teams within official Oman Olympic Committee delegations.
This discussion aimed to ensure clear administrative roles and responsibilities during international participations.
Additionally, members were named to the Omani Committee for Dispute Resolution and Sports Arbitration within the Oman Olympic Committee.
The board also deliberated on a proposal to form a public relations, programs, and events team to enhance the committee's institutional presence and organise accompanying activities and events with efficiency and professionalism.
The board members reviewed the Oman Olympic Committee’s annual administrative report for 2025, which included the most prominent programs, initiatives, and activities implemented over the past year. Furthermore, the board examined the committee’s financial position as of 31 December 2025, and discussed financial aspects related to the progress of work.
