South Al Batinah Governorate provides rural women with equipment to enhance converting industries

Al Rustaq: The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in South Al Batinah Governorate recently implemented a project to provide rural working women with advanced equipment to raise their output from converting industries. The project benefited 28 women from the wilayats of the governorate.

The project aims to empower rural women economically, to improve their living standards (by introducing modern technologies into production operations), to utilise the surplus of production from agriculture and livestock resources to provide added local value and to ensure the sustainability of such resources throughout the year.

The project included the distribution of a complete set of modern equipment like spice and coffee grinding machines, natural oil pressing machines, electric honey extractors, vacuum and date packaging machines, egg incubators, cow milking machines, butter sorting devices and nut butter extraction machines.

The equipment and machines are envisaged to contributes to raising the efficiency of production, improving the quality of final products and cutting down operating costs.

The project is also expected to extend the shelf life of products through modern packaging technologies, making the products more capable of competing in local markets.

The project highlights the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources to support initiatives of sustainable development and enhance the role of women as active partners in economic development. In addition, it will help achieve self-sufficiency and bolster the overall rural economy in the governorate.
