Oman's foreign affairs minister in Iran for talks

Muscat: Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs has arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran to meet with top Iranian officials.

In a statement online, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said His Excellency Yousuf bin Alawi arrived in Tehran on Saturday.

"His Excellency Minister Yousuf bin Alawi has arrived in Tehran today on a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the visit, the minister will meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and other officials in the Iranian Republic, where the latest developments in the region will be discussed."

The two ministers also discussed methods in which to preserve peace and security in the strait of Hormuz.

”A number of issues of mutual interest and developments in the Gulf region were discussed and efforts were made to find suitable solutions that contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and the safety of free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz,” the ministry added
