
Ankara: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held talks with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Turkiye, during their meeting in Ankara today.
The two ministers reviewed the overall relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries. They expressed their satisfaction with the positive course of relations and the tangible progress achieved in various areas.
The two sides discussed the outcomes of the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkiye to the Sultanate of Oman in October 2025, as well as the ensuring understandings aimed at enhancing partnership between the two countries.
The two sides laid emphasis on the importance of maintaining consultations and coordination at various levels, including regular institutional communication and the activities of the Omani-Turkish Joint Committee, which held its 13th session in Ankara recently.
At the political level, the two ministers exchanged views about a number of regional and international issues of common concern, notably the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip. They stressed the need to reach a permanent ceasefire and ensure unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to the strip, in addition to supporting the political process aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive and peaceful settlement to the Palestinian cause in accordance with resolutions on international legitimacy.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the Syrian Arab Republic. They underlined the importance of supporting efforts aimed at realizing stability and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state. They observed that this would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region.
The talks also dealt with developments in the Republic of Yemen and the efforts being made to enhance the political process in a manner that leads to a comprehensive and sustainable settlement based on dialogue and consensus that preserves the sovereignty, unity, security and stability of Yemen.
At the conclusion of their official consultations, Sayyid Badr and Fidan held a press conference in Ankara.
Sayyid Badr affirmed the strong bonds between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Turkiye, noting that the talks reflected the advanced level of bilateral cooperation.
He pointed out that his meeting with the Turkish minister was in pursuance of the deep momentum that marked bilateral relations following the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik the Republic of Turkiye in 2024 and the visit of the Turkish President to the Sultanate of Oman at the end of 2025, in addition to the convergence of visions and a common will to consolidate the bilateral partnership in political, economic and investment fields.
Sayyid Badr explained that, during their talks, the two ministers exchanged views about a number of regional and international issues, including the Palestinian cause. In this context, he stressed the need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to ease the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and to back the political process aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
For his part, Fidan commended the strength of Turkish-Omani relations. He expressed his appreciation for the constructive role of the Sultanate of Oman in supporting dialogue and the rapprochement of viewpoints.
Fidan stressed his country’s keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and joint coordination in a manner that contributes to supporting security and stability in the region.
