'Hamāt' programme launched in Oman to empower youth and boost innovation

Muscat: The third edition of the “Idea Makers – Hamāt” program has officially launched in Oman, marking the start of a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering creative youth, promoting innovative thinking and citizenship, and supporting sustainable development through community-driven solutions.

Organized by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in partnership with the Oman Investment Authority, the program seeks to strengthen Oman’s entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, aligning with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

A Four-Phase Innovation Journey

The programme is structured into four phases: Awareness Phase (until January 27): Awareness tours across all governorates introduce participants to the program framework and a series of real-world challenges across three tracks: corporate challenges, governorate-level issues, and research and innovation. Specialized workshops led by experts from Oman Investment Authority’s affiliated companies help participants refine their ideas.

Training Camp (February 1–5): Participants attend hands-on workshops covering problem definition, solution development, business model creation, and prototyping fundamentals.

Showcase Phase (February 8–9): During the fourth edition of the “Together We Progress” forum, finalists will present their projects in a competitive showcase. Top-performing teams will be recognized and awarded across the three tracks.

Incubation Phase: The most promising ideas will enter a nine-month incubation program, providing resources and mentorship to transform concepts into viable, impactful ventures.

Strategic Vision for National Development

The “Idea Makers – Hamāt” program reflects a long-term strategic vision to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Oman. By encouraging youth engagement, supporting economic diversification, and fostering community participation in solving national challenges, the initiative contributes directly to achieving the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040.
