Moscow: Oman-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group on Wednesday held a joint meeting, in Moscow, during which the two sides discussed various aspects of cooperation in parliamentary and economic fields.
The Parliamentary Friendship Group reviewed means of boosting bilateral relations and exchanging expertise in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries.
The discussions took place within the context of a visit made by an Omani delegation from the State Council to the “Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation”.
The Omani delegation was led Dr. Dhafer Awadh Al Shanfari, Head of the Omani State Council's side in the Oman-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During its visit to Russia, the Omani delegation held a meeting with Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the “Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation”.
The two sides discussed ways of enhancing bilateral parliamentary cooperation, exchanged views about various issues of common concern and stressed the importance of developing mechanisms for institutional coordination and communication between the two councils.
The Omani delegation also conferred with Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development at the Russian Federation. The meeting touched on aspects of cooperation in economic and investment fields and explored ways to boost the existing partnership between the authorities concerned in the two countries.
Later, the Omani delegation held a meeting with Azer Mamedov, First Deputy Executive Chairman of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The meeting reviewed opportunities for economic and investment cooperation and discussed mechanisms to support future partnerships with a view to enhancing bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
