Forum to focus on latest developments in global semiconductor industry

Muscat: The 2nd Edition of the International Semiconductor Executive Summits Middle East 2025 began on Tuesday, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.

The summit features the participation of more than 50 global companies in the semiconductor field, along with experts and specialists from various countries around the world.

The summit was opened under the auspices of Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Head of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, explained that the summit is attended by about 140 CEOs from international companies specialising in semiconductors and electronic chips, including design companies, cooling companies, and semiconductor equipment companies. It also features about 40 speakers presenting around 25 working papers.

He clarified that the summit aims to bring global semiconductor executives to the Sultanate of Oman to introduce them to the advantages available in Oman and to build the semiconductor and electronic chip ecosystem.

Dr. Seema bint Saadi Al Kaabi, Director General of Sector Stimulation and Future Skills at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, stated in her speech that the summit aims to attract qualitative investments in the semiconductor industry, establish an integrated ecosystem for this industry, boost economic diversification, provide job opportunities for Omani cadres, localize advanced technologies, increase exports, and attract new companies in future economic sectors. It also allows global companies to learn about the development achieved by the Sultanate of Oman in this field.

Salah Nasri, CEO of the International Semiconductor Executive Summits, explained that the Sultanate of Oman is a favourable destination for the semiconductor industry due to its strategic location and its human resources. He added that the Sultanate of Oman has made significant progress in this sector through investment, considering it a pivotal step towards developing this field in the region.

The summit is an opportunity to announce several strategic initiatives, most notably the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Semiconductors and Electronic Chips, and holding direct sessions and negotiations between semiconductor companies and institutions concerned with investment and financing in the Sultanate of Oman. It also involves presenting the available investment incentive packages to attract companies to start their commercial operations.

Furthermore, it allows for reviewing the latest developments in the semiconductor industry sector globally and communicating with global companies, suppliers, and investors to enhance innovation and understand future industry trends.
