Muscat: The 13th edition of Oman Poetry Festival will be organized from 14 to 18 December 2025 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The festival, which will held at the theatre of the Ministry of Information in Muscat, will bring together an elite group of Omani poets and guests from Arab countries. The programme will include workshops, poetry evenings and cultural events.
Participation in the festival this year will be realised in two ways: Through direct hosting of the participants and through the shortlisting of the contestants to the final stage.
To help broaden the scope of participation in the event, the festival will accommodate different generations of poets and allow an unscheduled segment of poets to present their texts and compete along the rest.
In its current session, the festival will honour four poets who had long contributed to the march of Omani poetry and played a prominent role in the cultural scene. The poets to be felicitated are: Salim bin Ali Al Kalbani (classical poetry), Hamoud bin Sulaiman Al Hajri (popular poetry), the late Mohammed bin Issa Al Harthi and the late Hilala bint Khalifa Al Hamdani.
