GCC leaders wish His Majesty for Renaissance Day

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said received greetings from the heads of state of the other five Gulf Cooperation Council nations on the occasion of Renaissance Day.

He also received greetings from other members of the royal families of these countries. Oman is a member of the six-nation GCC, with the others being Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain.

Both King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia, and the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, tendered their greetings to His Majesty on the occasion of Renaissance Day.

A statement from the Saudi Press Agency, the state-run news agency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said, “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has sent a cable of congratulations to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman on the anniversary of his country's Renaissance Day. In his cable, the King wished the Sultan constant good health and happiness and the government and people of Oman steady progress and prosperity. The King also praised distinguished relations between the two sisterly countries, which all are keen to develop in all fields.

The SPA added: “his Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has sent a cable of congratulations to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman on the anniversary of his country's Renaissance Day. HRH Crown Prince wished the Sultan permanent good health and happiness and the government and people of Oman steady progress and prosperity.”

Wishes for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said also came from the rulers of the United Arab Emirates. WAM, the UAE’s official news agency, said, “President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a congratulatory message to Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman on his country's Renaissance Day, which is marked on 23rd July.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar messages to Sultan Qaboos,” added WAM.

The UAE is made up of seven Emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, and the rulers of all of these emirates sent greetings to His Majesty on the occasion of Renaissance Day.

Greetings came from both the Emir of Kuwait, as well as the speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly, with KUNA, the Kuwait News Agency, said, “His Highness the Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah sent on Monday a cable of congratulations to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman. His Highness the Emir expressed his utmost congratulation on Oman’s Renaissance Day, and lauded the significant achievements and major developments made in the Sultanate.

“His Highness also wished Sultan Qaboos good health and wellness, and further progress and prosperity for Oman under his wise leadership,” said KUNA. “Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al Ghanim sent, Monday, a cable to top lawmakers in the Sultanate of Oman, congratulating them on their country’s Renaissance Day.”

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said also received greetings from the Emir of Qatar. The Qatar News Agency said, “HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sent Tuesday a cable of congratulations to HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said of the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of the anniversary of his accession to the throne.”

Similar greetings were sent by both the Deputy Emir, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, with the King, Crown Prince and Premier of Bahrain also according His Majesty greetings for Renaissance Day.

“His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa sent a cable of congratulations to HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the 23rd of July Blessed Renaissance Day, wishing His Majesty lasting good health and happiness, and the Omani people further progress and prosperity under His Majesty's wise leadership,” reported the Bahrain News Agency. “HM the King praised the constantly developing and growing deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries and peoples.”
