International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed in Dhofar Governorate

Salalah: The Directorate General of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar on Wednesday organised a ceremony on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on 3 December every year. The ceremony was held at Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

The event took the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”.

The ceremony included three presentations. The first focused on promoting the rights of persons with disabilities; the second highlighted the services of Al Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Salalah; and the third dealt with ways to establish an inclusive environment for persons with disabilities. This was in addition to a public awareness drama and a musical operetta titled “Dear Homeland.

The chief guest felicitated the organisers of the event which formed part of the efforts made by the Ministry of Social Development to raise public awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities and support their active participation in social development.
