Shannah, Masirah Ports witness surge; authorities implement measures to streamline passenger flow

Muscat: Shannah and Masirah ports have experienced a significant increase in passenger and tourist traffic during the holiday period, reflecting a surge in domestic and international travel to the region.

In response to the growing demand, the Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police, has implemented an organised entry mechanism for ticket holders. This system is designed to align with the operational capacity of the ferries, ensuring a smooth and efficient boarding process for all travelers.

To further accommodate the influx, the Ministry has coordinated with local ferry operators to schedule additional trips between the ports. These efforts aim to enhance the travel experience, reduce congestion, and support the tourism sector during peak holiday seasons.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure and promoting Oman’s coastal destinations as accessible and attractive options for both residents and visitors.
