Nepal and China embassies organise ‘Diplomatic Hiking’ event in Muscat

Muscat: On the occasion of Oman’s National Day, the Embassies of Nepal and the People’s Republic of China in Muscat successfully co-organised a ‘Diplomatic Hiking’ event.

The hike took place on Friday, 28 November 2025, along the scenic Muttrah Riyam trail, commencing at 15:30 hours. The hike concluded at Riyam Park at 18:00 hours.

Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal, and Lyu Jian, Ambassador of China, led the hiking group which included spouses of the Ambassadors, embassy officials, media personalities, and Omani friends.

This collaboration symbolised the strong bilateral friendship between the nations and their deep respect for the Sultanate of Oman.

Beyond fostering diplomatic ties, the event featured a core environmental initiative. Participants actively collected plastic bottles and waste found along the trail, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental conversation.

The embassies noted that this initiative served as a meaningful way to celebrate Oman’s National Day, promoting mutual goodwill and tourism while uniting Nepal, China, and the Sultanate through a shared appreciation for nature.

Both the ambassadors expressed their gratitude to the participants for their active participation and assured of conducting similar events in the future. They thanked the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman for coordinating with the local authorities to ensure availability of an ambulance throughout the hike.
