Bahla: The 5th edition of a symposium titled “Omanis—Messengers of Peace” was held today in the Wilayat of Bahla, Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah.
Organised by the Office of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the symposium highlighted the positive impact of Omanis in East Africa, notably in the fields of trade and urban construction, in addition to their role in spreading the values of coexistence and peace.
The symposium saw the participation of a number of researchers who engaged in cultural discourse and presented readings on how Omanis contributed to civilisation in East Africa. It included a dialogue session that dealt with the lasting impacts of this legacy on contemporary life.
An exhibition featuring models, documents and pictures that embody the Omani presence in East Africa was held on the sidelines of the event.
The symposium concluded with recommendations calling for conducting further studies and research in this field. The recommendations also stressed the need to support initiatives that document the Omani presence in East Africa.
