Call for efforts to attain goals of renewed renaissance

Muscat: At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the State Council on Sunday inaugurated the proceedings of the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 8th Term, in accordance with the provisions of Articles (38 and 41) of the Council of Oman Law.

Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, said in his speech that the Third Ordinary Session of the Eighth Term of the Council necessitates a determination to intensify parliamentary work, completing what was started during the previous two years of the First and Second Sessions.

He stressed the importance of exerting effort to achieve goals and attain accomplishments that will have a prominent contribution to the richness of the development and growth of the renewed renaissance.

The Chairman of the State Council added that a packed legislative agenda includes many important draft laws that must be completed with the Shura Council, so that the legislative structure of the Council of Oman system is complete.

He expressed his thanks to the members and to the General Secretariat for their appreciated national efforts in ensuring the success of the Council’s work and achieving its mission.

He indicated that the agenda for the first session includes discussing the study presented by the Technology and Innovation Committee on “Data Management and Governance and its Impact on the Digital Economy”.

This study aims to enhance the legislative and regulatory framework for national registries, benefit from leading global experiences in data governance, establish a comprehensive framework for its management and security, and propose supportive legislation for secure and effective data sharing and exchange.

The Council also reviewed a number of reports related to its work.
