ROP urges drivers to take caution during dust and sandstorms

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), represented by the Directorate General of Traffic, has issued a safety advisory for motorists driving on roads affected by dust and sandstorms caused by strong winds.

The ROP emphasised the importance of exercising extra caution and following key safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure road safety during such conditions. “Drivers are advised to reduce speed to avoid accidents and turn on headlights and fog lights when necessary to improve visibility, "the ROP said. 

The ROP also urged that they should maintain a safe distance between vehicles. “Drivers should also stay in the designated lane and avoid unnecessary lane changes and stop the vehicle if visibility becomes severely reduced,” it said.
