
Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, has launched the Leadership in Cultural and Creative Industries Programme.
The pioneering initiative aims to strengthen leadership and management capabilities deemed essential for navigating the ever-evolving landscape of Oman’s cultural and creative sectors. This, in turn, will empower national talent and contribute to the development of an innovation-driven, knowledge-based economy in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Participants, who are executive leaders in the cultural and creative industries, will gain access to advanced knowledge and international best practices in leadership, cultural policy and legislation, governance, innovation management, intellectual property, and creative finance and investment. The programme also seeks to build a strong network of professionals and thought leaders driving growth and innovation within Oman’s cultural landscape.
Targeting senior executives from cultural institutions and creative organisations in Oman, the landmark programme aims to challenge participants’ thinking and the ways they approach their roles, while working on multiple levels to enhance their leadership capabilities. It will further deepen their knowledge as they are exposed to best practices and expertise in leadership, cultural policy and legislation, governance, innovation management, intellectual property, and creative finance and investment.
Dr. Fathiya Abdullah Al Rashdi, Vice President for Programme Affairs at the Royal Academy of Management, said, “The launch of theLeadership in Cultural and Creative IndustriesProgramme underscores our commitment to elevating the skills and abilities of national leaders across various sectors in Oman, empowering them to lead more effectively in their respective areas.”
She added, “This pioneering initiative sets out to cultivate strategic thinking, foster an innovation mindset, and stimulate investment in the creative economy, encompassed by the cultural and creative industries. By fostering innovation, leveraging creative skills, and creating jobs, these industries are key drivers of economic growth and diversification, and the creative economy contributes to sustainable development and helps shape the nation’s knowledge economy, closely aligning with Oman Vision 2040.”
Spanning ten days of intensive executive learning, the Leadership in Cultural and Creative IndustriesProgramme will bring together a distinguished group of Directors General, heads of associations, and other influential figures from creative and cultural industries. To provide a comprehensive and cohesive journey, it features specialised modules, interactive sessions and applied projects, and will be followed by a two- to three-month implementation phase during which participants will be able to apply theoretical concepts to practical leadership scenarios within their workplaces.
The programme’s defined curriculum is structured around six core pillars: the creative economy and sustainable development; governance and strategic management; cultural policy and legislation; innovation and talent empowerment; intellectual property; and creative finance and investment.
Hilal Al Sabti, Supervisor of the programme, said, “This programme is designed to equip leaders with real-world tools tailored to the creative economy, elevating their leadership acumen and empowering them to drive organizational transformation with confidence. It integrates theoretical frameworks with practical strategies, including workshops, case studies, and applied projects to reinforce innovation and productivity.
He added, “Participants will also deepen their understanding of cultural governance, policy frameworks and investment mechanisms that underpin a thriving creative economy. By providing tools to navigate complexity and drive change, the programme encourages participants to reflect on their leadership purpose and impact, and to further align them with organisational goals and national objectives.”
Al Sabti also remarked that the programme seeks to establish a national community of leaders capable of developing creative solutions and initiatives that advance creative economy, further positioning Oman as a regional hub for culture and creativity.
