Omani Haj mission heads to Mecca

Muscat: The Omani Haj Mission left Oman today (Sunday) for the sacred lands. The mission is headed by Sheikh Nasser bin Yousef Al Azri, Head of the Omani Haj Mission. The mission's members were seen off upon their departure at Muscat International Airport by Sheikh Dr. Kahlan bin Nabhan Al Kharousi, Assistant Grand Mufit of the Sultanate and a number of officials at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

After arriving in King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the mission will head to Mecca.

While in Mecca and Al Madinah Al Munawarah, the Omani Haj Mission will look after Omani pilgrims and the other pilgrims, in addition to providing its services in other holy sites during the Haj season.

The mission comprises delegation of Ifta and religious counseling, administrative and financial delegation, the delegation supervising the contractors, medical delegation, the delegation of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), media delegation and scouts delegation.

The number of the Sultanate's pilgrims this year stood at 11200 persons, including 537 residents, while the number of the licensed contractors stood at 231 contractors.
