Fifth edition of 'National Programme for Equal Opportunities' kicks off at Salalah Free Zone

Salalah: The 5th edition of the “National Programme for Equal Opportunities” kicked off on Tuesday at Salalah Free Zone.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz), and attended by government officials, CEOs, entrepreneurs and investors.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Tabuk, CEO of Salalah Free Zone, stressed the importance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as a backbone of the economy. He underlined the role SMEs in generating new employment opportunities and stimulating innovation.

Tabuk pointed out that encouraging initiatives by SMEs reflects Salalah Free Zone's commitment to promote social responsibility and introduce practices of sustainability through educational, youth and community programmes.

He added that Salalah Free Zone also encourages green industries and environment-friendly projects in a manner that contributes to building a diversified economy and enhancing the competitiveness of Omani products in the regional and global arenas.

The 5th edition of the “National Programme for Equal Opportunities” saw the signing of agreements between SMEs and companies operating at the Salalah Free Zone.

The programme serves as a practical step forward in consolidating supply chains, opening new fresh vistas for cooperation and providing real opportunities for local establishments to offer their services in major industrial and logistics projects.

The event also included an accompanying exhibition featuring samples of products and services provided by the SMEs taking part in the programme.

The implementation of the programme keeps pace with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, notably in the field of developing promising emerging sectors.
