Oman's trade balance surplus exceeds OMR3bn

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's trade balance recorded a surplus of OMR3.088 billion until the end of June 2025, compared to a surplus of OMR4.697 billion during the same period in 2024, registering a decrease of 34.3 percent.

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed a 9.5 percent decline in the total value of commodity exports, reaching OMR11.499 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to OMR12.701 billion during the same period in 2024.

This decline is mainly attributed to a 16.1 percent decline in Oman's oil and gas exports, reaching OMR7.424 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to OMR8.846 billion during the same period in 2024.

In contrast, Oman's non-oil commodity exports grew by 9.1percent, reaching OMR3.26 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to OMR2.989 billion during the same period in 2024.

Re-exports from the Sultanate of Oman recorded a 5.9 percent decline by the end of June 2025, reaching OMR815 million, compared to OMR867 million in the same period in 2024.

The data showed a 5.1 percent increase in the total value of commodity imports to the Sultanate of Oman, reaching OMR8.411 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, which amounted to OMR8.04 billion.

The United Arab Emirates topped the list of non-oil trade exchanges by the end of June 2025, with exports to the UAE reaching OMR593 million, a 29.8 percent growth compared to the end of June 2024. It also topped the list of countries to which Oman re-exported, with a value of OMR348 million, and also topped the list of countries exporting to the Sultanate of Oman, with imports from the country reaching OMR1.984 billion.

Saudi Arabia ranked second among Oman's non-oil exports, with a value of OMR538 million, followed by India with OMR335 million. In re-exports, Iran ranked second with a value of OMR129 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with OMR57 million.

Among the countries exporting to the Sultanate of Oman, China came in second place with imports valued at OMR854 million, followed by the State of Kuwait with a value of OMR795 million.
