MCBS showcases Global and Local Engagement at ISMUN 2025

Muscat – The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) made its mark at the 9th Indian School Muscat Model United Nations (ISMUN 2025), with Deputy Executive Chairperson Ms. Aisha Al Kharusi serving as Chief Guest at the historic gathering.

This year's event broke records as Oman's largest Model United Nations (MUN) event, bringing together over 800 student delegates across 21 committees representing major international bodies including UNICEF, UNHCR, WHO, NATO, and FIFA. The timing proved especially meaningful, coinciding with Indian School Muscat's golden jubilee milestone.

Ms. Aisha Al Kharusi delivered the keynote address, celebrating Indian School Muscat’s five decades of shaping future leaders and commending the organizers for their ambitious vision. Along with the Deputy Executive Chairperson, the MCBS delegation added significant depth to the conference through the participation of Dr. Ayyapan Ayyappan Palanissamy, Supervisor of the MUN Student Club, guided the team, while club leaders President Asma Barwani and Vice President Riyam Bouheni who represented the college with distinction. Also in attendance were faculty members Mrs Anitha Nair and Mrs Aswathy Pillai, both proud Indian School Muscat alumni, symbolizing the enduring educational partnerships that continue to strengthen Oman’s academic landscape.

The conference immersed students in real diplomatic scenarios, where they tackled pressing global issues and built consensus across cultural divides. This hands-on experience develops exactly what MCBS prioritizes: graduates who can navigate complex challenges with analytical skills and cross-cultural fluency. Through events like ISMUN, students don't just study international relations, they practice it, positioning them as bridge-builders who understand both local contexts and global dynamics.

As MCBS celebrates 30 years since its establishment in 1995, the college has announced a landmark initiative for incoming students: a 50% tuition discount for the current academic year. This initiative eases financial barriers while upholding MCBS’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence. It reflects the college’s dual commitment to honouring its legacy and expanding access to quality higher education.

Looking ahead, MCBS will continue to strengthen its role in both international forums and local partnerships, preparing graduates with global perspectives firmly grounded in the needs and aspirations of Oman’s development.
