OCCI hosts Oman–Pakistan forum to boost investment and economic ties

Muscat: The Oman–Pakistan Business Forum, hosted by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Tuesday, 2 September, reaffirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation and joint investment between the private sectors of the two friendly countries in projects that support economic diversification. This is to be achieved by creating a favourable and attractive investment climate while exploring further opportunities enabled by the encouraging business environment.

The forum was attended by Eng. Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the OCCI and Committee Chairman, H.E. Naveed Safdar Bokhari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Sultanate of Oman, Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Former Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Head of the Pakistani delegation, along with a number of Omani and Pakistani business leaders.

The forum discussed cooperation and investment opportunities across diverse sectors including food security, information and communication technology, education, textiles, health, construction, travel and tourism, automotive, import and export and sporting goods.

Eng. Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the OCCI and Committee Chairman, “The forum aims to strengthen bridges of cooperation and partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and to open broader horizons for economic, trade and investment integration. It seeks to realise developmental visions and reflects the strong will to enhance cooperation, particularly in the economic field. This forum represents one of the continuous avenues of cooperation between Oman and Pakistan, which have shared deep historical ties spanning centuries.”

Al Saadi emphasised that OCCI attaches great importance to expanding cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in sectors that support economic diversification. He added that the forum serves as an ideal platform for exchanging expertise, showcasing investment opportunities, and developing joint projects. This, he noted, enhances the competitiveness of the private sectors in both countries and opens new avenues for increased trade and investment exchange.

H.E. Naveed Safdar Bokhari, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, said, “This forum embodies the depth of the historical relations between Oman and Pakistan. It is not just a platform for exchanging ideas but also a practical step towards strengthening trade and investment partnerships between our two friendly countries. We see in Oman a strategic partner, given its distinguished geographic location and economic stability. Pakistan, in turn, offers promising opportunities across several vital economic sectors. We believe that integrating our resources and capabilities will open new horizons for bilateral cooperation in the interests of both peoples.”

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, former vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), said, “This forum reflects the shared will to strengthen economic and trade partnership in a way that serves the interests of both the Omani and Pakistani peoples. It comes at a time when we are all facing global economic challenges that require closer cooperation and the exchange of expertise and investment opportunities. Pakistan views Oman as a strategic partner, given its unique location, attractive investment environment, and Oman Vision 2040. We call on the business communities of both countries to take advantage of mutual incentives and facilitations, and to work on establishing joint projects capable of competing in regional and global markets.”

Aman Paracha, Vice President of the FPCCI, delivered a presentation highlighting the developments of Pakistan’s economy, promising sectors for investment, government incentives and facilitations, and the opportunities available for partnerships between the private sectors of Oman and Pakistan.

The forum also witnessed bilateral meetings between business leaders from both countries to explore ways to strengthen partnerships, exchange expertise, and discuss joint investment opportunities across promising sectors, thereby contributing to opening new avenues of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
