Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a statement warning of thunderstorms and downdraft winds across several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
CAA said in a statement :"Due to continued heavy rainfall expected, which may be accompanied by thundershower and downdraft winds over the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, and North Al Sharqiyah, with rainfall amounts ranging from 20 to 50 mm, leading to the flow of streams and wadis."
The statement also mentioned that there is a chance of rainfall of varying intensity, occasionally with thundershowers, over parts of the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Dhahirah.
The Civil Aviation Authority has advised everyone to take precautions during the heavy rain, to avoid crossing wadis, and to steer clear of low-lying areas. It also advised against sailing.
