OOC begins preparatory meetings for participation in Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

As part of its preparations for the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) commenced a series of coordination meetings on Monday with several sports federations and committees. These meetings will continue for three consecutive days at OOC headquarters.

The aim of the meetings is to discuss the technical and administrative aspects of Oman's participation in the Games, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025. The event will feature athletes from 57 member states of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.
These meetings reflect OOC commitment to strengthening coordination with sports federations and committees to ensure effective participation in the Games—one of the most prominent multi-sport events in the Islamic world. The Games provide an ideal platform for fair competition and for showcasing national talents across various sports.

The discussions will cover aspects related to selecting the sports in which Oman will participate, based on established technical criteria. They will also review timelines, logistical requirements, and the technical preparation needs of national teams in alignment with this important regional sporting event.

The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation recently announced that the sixth edition of the Games will be hosted in Riyadh, featuring 24 sports. This will be organized in coordination with the host committee and the national Olympic committees, with an emphasis on selecting appropriate dates to avoid conflicts with major championships and Islamic events. This scheduling aims to enhance athletes’ opportunities to perform at their best as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
