Oman’s Public Prosecution refutes divorce rumour

Muscat: Oman’s Public Prosecution has denied a rumour circulating across Oman that claims half of all divorce cases in Oman are caused by social media.

According to the Prosecution's office, the rumour — which linked divorce rates to an increase in social media use — is false, and said that no member of the Public Prosecution even hinted to this statement.

The Public Prosecution said in a statement: "A rumour that claims a Public Prosecution statement attributes between 50 and 60 per cent of divorce cases in Oman to social media, is being spread on social networking sites.

"We would like to announce that this information has been falsely spread and that this statement was not issued by any Public Prosecution members," the organisation added in their statement.
